Biography

Phleas of Thmuis was martyred by being beheaded during the reign of Diocletian. He was well-educated and respected by many. He held several positions in the government before being ordained as a bishop in Egypt. His protests to Bishop Meletius were at the beginning of the Meletian schism. Phleas died on February 4, 306.
