Biography

Pierius lived at the time of the Church Fathers, besides having a leadership role in the church in Alexandria. Pierius lived piously and in poverty by choice. He would preach the scriptures in public. He produced many writings, including ones on Hosea and Luke. He often compared to Origen. His theology diverged from the norm regarding his ideas regarding the Holy Spirit. Peirius believed the"glory" of the Holy Spirit was not as great as the Father and the Son. Legend has it that Pierius was martyred under the rule of Diocletian.
