Biography

Pope Theonas of Alexandria, the 16th Pope of the Catholic Church, was responsible for the building of Theotokos in Alexandria, Egypt. This was a church built in honor of the Virgin Mary. Theonas' writings are included in the Ante-Nicene Fathers (1885). Theonas had a reputation for being Christ-like in his gentleness and meekness. Theonas died in 300 and was succeeded by Pope Peter.
